About the Data

About the Data

This page explains what data Just Freeze Drying collects and records, how measured values differ from calculated ones, how missing data is handled and how the Freeze Drying Lab grows. The short version: the Lab is intentionally empty right now, and nothing on this site claims to be test data that does not exist.

What the Site Records

All site data falls into one of these categories, and the categories are never mixed on a published record:

Measured Data

Values read directly from an instrument during a real, documented test: weights from a scale, times from the machine clock, temperatures from a probe. Measured data is recorded as it happens and never estimated afterward. No measured data is published on this site yet, because no test records exist yet.

Calculated Data

Values derived by formula from measured or entered inputs: dry yield percentage, water removed, rehydration ratios, packaging weights, batch costs. Calculated results are always labeled Calculated or Estimate and are never presented as raw measurements.

Observed Data

Human notes recorded during or after a run: texture, color, rehydration behavior, powder behavior. Useful practical observations, not instrument readings. Like measured data, no observed data is published yet.

General Guidance

Educational background that is not tied to a specific test or machine: how sugars behave, why packaging matters, how rehydration works. Carries no record and is never represented as Lab evidence.

How Missing Data Is Handled

When a field was not captured, the record says so. The site uses three honest placeholders and never substitutes a zero where a value simply was not recorded:

  • Not Recorded: the field exists but no value was captured for that test.
  • Not Tested: the item or condition was not part of the test at all.
  • Not Applicable: the field does not apply to this product or test.

A missing value is never filled with an invented number, and a partial record is published with its limits stated (the Lab calls this Partial or Limited Data, described on the Lab Methodology page).

Privacy for Client Tests

Client tests carry a privacy level: Public, Anonymized or Private. Public records can be published with full product and process detail; Anonymized records are published with client identity and location removed; Private records stay in the archive and are never published. Client information is never exposed automatically, and proprietary recipes, ingredient ratios, pricing and identities are never disclosed without the client's specific written approval.

How Historical Tests Are Treated

Historical tests are treated like any other record: they are only published if a genuine source record exists behind them, their completeness is stated honestly and their measured, calculated and observed values stay in their own categories. A historical test with missing fields is published, if at all, as a partial or limited record with exactly those gaps named. Corrections follow the Corrections page: a corrected measurement is fixed in place, never deleted.

How the Lab Will Grow

The Freeze Drying Lab is currently and intentionally empty. No WeFreezeDryIt test records are published because none exist yet as verified, documented records, and nothing is fabricated to fill the space. As real records are migrated and verified, the Lab will grow record by record, each one carrying its own identity, its data categories and its confidence level.

Until then, everything else on this site is general guidance, manufacturer guidance, calculations or estimates, labeled accordingly. You can see the labels in action on the Methodology page.
