Before Your First Freeze-Drying Batch
Run through this list before your first cycle. After a few batches it becomes a habit.
- Food is fresh and handled properly
- Food is prepared appropriately
- Pieces are reasonably uniform
- Trays are loaded evenly
- Chamber is clean and dry
- Door gasket is clean
- Vacuum pump is ready
- Valves are correctly positioned for the specific machine
- Food will be completely frozen before drying
- Packaging supplies are ready
- Oxygen absorbers are ready if being used
- You know how you will check dryness
- You are prepared to package promptly
