Freeze Dryer Space Planner
This tool estimates the operating footprint a freeze dryer will need: machine width, depth and height, the clearance you require around it, and the pump footprint where the pump sits outside the machine. The result is an estimate based on your inputs, and manufacturer clearance requirements are never overridden by this tool: if the maker specifies a clearance, use that value.

How the Estimate Works
The operating footprint is the floor area the machine plus its clearance occupies: width plus twice the side clearance, times depth plus clearance behind the machine, plus the pump footprint where the pump sits outside the machine. Height matters for doorways, shelves and rooms; the estimate reports it separately.
Manufacturer Clearance Is the Floor
This tool never overrides a manufacturer's recommended clearance. Where the maker specifies clearance, ventilation and placement, those values win: enter them as the required clearance. Where no value is published, give the machine room to breathe, with ventilation and access to the pump, drain and controls per the manual.
Check the Path, Not Just the Spot
- Doorways, stairs and corners on the way to the final spot, especially for heavy units (for example the StayFresh Mega at about 268 lb excluding its 62 lb pump, per the manufacturer).
- Bench strength for horizontal units like The CUBE, which sits on a bench rather than the floor.
- Exhaust and drainage access lines from the manufacturer's guidance.
