Unit Converters
Unit Converter
A quick converter for the units freeze drying keeps bumping into: weight between grams, kilograms, ounces and pounds; water volume between milliliters, liters, fluid ounces and cups; and temperature between Celsius and Fahrenheit. Water weight conversions are kept separate from general liquid conversions and live in the Water-to-Weight Converter.
Weight
Grams, kilograms, ounces (weight) and pounds, any direction.

Water Volume
Milliliters, liters, US fluid ounces and US cups. Values are approximate standard conversions.

Temperature
Celsius and Fahrenheit for room conditions, pre-freezing and storage questions.

What the Results Mean
Each converter takes a value and a pair of units and returns the same quantity expressed in the target unit. Weight conversions use standard mass factors (1 kg = 1000 g, 1 lb = 453.59237 g, 1 oz = 28.349523125 g). Volume conversions use standard US measures (1 L = 1000 mL, 1 US fl oz = 29.5735 mL, 1 US cup = 236.588 mL). Temperature uses the standard formulas.
Converting water volume to weight is a separate job: for water only, 1 g is about 1 mL, and that approximation is handled by the Water-to-Weight Converter so it does not get mixed into general liquid conversions.
The Formula
- Weight: convert to grams, then to the target unit (g × factor)
- Water volume: convert to milliliters, then to the target unit (mL × factor)
- Temperature: °F = °C × 9 ÷ 5 + 32; °C = (°F − 32) × 5 ÷ 9
Important Limitations
- Volume conversions use US fluid ounces and US cups. Metric cups and imperial pints differ, so results are only as correct as the standard you assumed.
- Weights are mass, not volume: 1 oz by weight is not the same as 1 fl oz by volume, which is exactly why the converters are separate.
- Temperature conversions are exact; volume and weight conversions are standard approximations with rounding.
