Ingredients

  • Fully dry freeze-dried herbs (basil, oregano, cilantro or your choice)

Freeze-Dried Ingredients

  • • Freeze-dried herb leaves, crisp and fully dry

Fresh Ingredients

  • • None, for the powder itself

Preparation

  1. Confirm the herbs are fully dry and brittle; any flexible leaf means residual moisture.
  2. Grind small batches in short pulses so the powder stays cool and the aroma holds.
  3. Sift and re-grind coarse bits once.

Rehydration

Starting Water Estimate

All water amounts on this page are starting estimates, not tested ratios. Add liquid gradually, stir or rest, and adjust to the texture you want.

  • Use the powder dry on finished dishes, or stir it into cooking liquid so it releases flavor into soups and sauces.
  • Add it near the end of cooking so the aroma survives.

Serving

Start with a pinch to half a teaspoon and taste.

Storage

Herb powder is the most humidity-sensitive powder here: seal it tightly, store it cool and dark, use a dry spoon, and never hold the jar over steam.

Storage depends on your packaging, dryness and conditions. See the Storage Center and the packaging guides for honest shelf-life guidance; no shelf-life claim is made on this page.

Notes

This recipe teaches the humidity-protection lesson that governs the Seasonings section: powders clump and lose aroma when moisture gets in.
