Freeze-Dried Smoothies & Drinks

Freeze-dried fruit powders, yogurt and vegetable powders rebuild into smoothies and drink mixes in seconds, and pre-portioned dry mixes travel anywhere. This section is about technique and flavor building only: no health or supplement claims are made anywhere on it.

Fruit powders

Whisk fruit powder into smoothies, lemonades and flavored water. Add it gradually: fruit sugar clumps when dumped in all at once, and a teaspoon at a time is easier to control.

Yogurt

Yogurt powder or drops make a smoothie creamier and are the base of a dry smoothie mix. Add liquid gradually and blend until the powder fully hydrates.

Vegetable powders

Tomato, carrot, beet and spinach powders bring color and body to savory drinks and blended soups. Keep them separate from sweet blends until you know how they taste.

Drink mixes

Pre-portion fruit and yogurt powders into a single-serve pouch: shake or blend with liquid and you have a drink with no fresh ingredients, which is also the logic behind the commercial smoothie-mix concept.

The Blend Rule

Dry powders hydrate unevenly if dumped in at once. Blend or shake with the liquid partly added, rest for a minute so the powder fully absorbs, then adjust. Starting Water Estimates apply here exactly as they do everywhere: add gradually and adjust to the thickness you like.
